Ushering in the New Year
I have been absent from the digital realm for the past week and a half. My daughter came down with a vicious stomach bug just days before Xmas, and I was ambushed by the same blight 2 days post. Nasty as it was, somehow we all got to enjoy Christmas in between. 'Twas a holiday miracle.
As the year draws to a close, I completed and surpassed my goal of five acts of kindness (although today, it seems almost trite to recount). I gave a couple of grocery gift cards to people holding signs on street corners. My husband and I doled out lots of cookies and other holiday goodies to homeless people on Christmas morning. We are watching the neighbor's dog while they deal with a difficult family illness that has drawn them to California indefinitely (and we made dinner for them the night before they left).
Most of this I would have done anyway.
As we ready ourselves to usher in the new year, I can't help but to turn inward, welcoming the introspection that only a blank slate can provide. Reveling in possibility, I can't wait to see what the new year will bring.
Wishing you all a love and laughter filled 2013. Happy New Year!
